iOS 17 is here. What are your favorite features?

Updated: Nov 16, 2023

iOS 17 is the latest version of Apple’s operating system for iPhones. It was released almost two months ago on September 18, 2023. iOS 17 brings new features to enhance the things you do every day, such as calling, messaging, FaceTiming, and more. Here are some of the newest features of iOS 17:

Contact Posters: You can customize how you show up when you call someone with a photo, Memoji, or your name. You can also share your Contact Poster automatically with your contacts.

Live Voicemail: When someone calls and leaves you a message, you can see a live transcription and pick up the call as they’re leaving their message. You can also send someone to Live Voicemail faster by tapping on the new Voicemail button on the incoming call screen.

Stickers: You can access all your stickers, including Live Stickers, Memoji, Animoji, emoji stickers, and third-party sticker packs in one place. You can also react to a message with any sticker through the plus button or the Tapback menu.

Search filters: You can search for messages with more precision by combining search filters such as people, keywords, and content types like photos or links.

Location-sharing improvements: You can share your location or request someone else’s location directly from the plus button in Messages with the new Location app. You can also view the location of your Find My friends right at the top of the conversation.

FaceTime improvements: You can record a video or audio message when someone misses your FaceTime call. You can also react with your hands to add 3D augmented reality effects like hearts, confetti, fireworks, and more. And you can use your iPhone as a camera and start a call directly from the FaceTime app on Apple TV.

StandBy: You can turn your iPhone on its side while charging to make it even more useful when you set it down. You can see Live Activities in full screen, such as the score of a game or the progress of your food delivery. You can also ask Siri questions and see rich visual results that can be viewed from a distance.

Personal Voice: Using AI, you are able to clone your voice by recording 150 different phrases. Once recorded, your iPhone will create a synthetic voice that represents your own personal voice. The process of recording takes about 15 minutes, but may take a couple days to process all of the data before your voice is ready. Once complete, your voice can be used in similar ways as text to speech.

These are just some of the new features of iOS 17. There are many more to explore and enjoy. What is your favorite new feature? Let us know in the comments.
